A New Year & New Opportunities for the Working Class and their Families!
Like the breath-taking view of the sunrise submitted by Brother, K. Violette, some of the best things we'll ever see, hear or experience just happen. Even after the darkest of nights, the sun eventually rises and brightens our day. Our jobs present constant opportunities and no amount of planning, manuevering or negotiating could have predicted nor produced the awesome experience captured in the photo (left). Local 63 members have been weathering a long, dark and depressing economy with the recent "recession". We eagerly anticipate the inevitable recovery. The cyclical nature of construction dictates that just as day follows night, so too should recovery follow recession. Construction projects appear to have finally been 'stimulated' and are popping up for bid opportunities at an ever increasing pace since the New Year. In 2009, the only seemingly shovel-ready work appeared to be road work (filling pot-holes, paving roads and painting bridges). In 2010, it appears that stimulus monies will finally reach the new and renovation construction sectors which provide job opportunities for our workforce. ARRA/FSP monies are stimulating new emerging concepts and technologies. These opportunities for our contractors and several new upstarts are extremely promising. The economic sun appears to be on the rise again. The recent REO Rally in Springfield can be seen in pictures submitted and now available in the 'Photos' tab. Thank You to All for your support and participation. A retirement party has been organized, please review the calendar of upcoming events. NOTE: Regulare Body Meetings are now at 6:00 p.m. The Organizing Committee welcomes all levels of participation, if you can spare the time and are interested in helping OUR Local, contact the Hall for more information. Please submit your suggestions, materials and/or digital photos to boblocal63@att.net. There's a lot of skilled work being done every day. Take some pictures and share your talents by submitting them for posting. None of Us is as Strong as All of Us!
