AFL-CIO, and long-time friend Dottie Manning began the Walk.  Dottie lost her 21 year old son to cancer and two years later lost her husband to a different form of cancer.  In its first year, Bob gave a rallying speech and declared that the unions would walk until they cure cancer. This year they are still walking."
